embassy sign on the outer wall, set tires ablaze, and then dealt to the compound with rocks. witnesses say that yemeni security forces who rushed to the scene fired gunshots in the air and used tear gas to try to disperse the crowd and were eventually able to drive them out of the compound. the demonstrators are protesting an anti-islamic film, the same one that caused similar protests at the u.s. embassy in cairo. we have live pictures and video of the protest that is still going on. six police officers suffered minor injuries during the clashes there. albee's follow attacks on the -- all of these attacks follow the attacks in libya on the u.s. consulate and it lasted nearly five hours in benghazi.

this violence has raised worries that further protests could break out around the muslim world as anger spreads over the film. the embassy in washington has condemned the attack and vowed to secure the safety of the americans. -- the libyan embassy in washingtowashington. >> there was never an issue with muslims or anything like that in the film. he was supposed to be making a film about life to a thousand years ago. >> the actress said she has called the film maker after she learned what happened. she's said that he told her i am tired of the radical muslims going around and killing

6:04. on the campaign trail, first lady michelle obama and republican presidential nominee mitt romney trying to win over voters in virginia today. brianne carter is live in fairfax with details on the campaign in battleground virginia. >> in a matter of hours people will start falling into this fairfax park. the stage is set and the flag is up for mitt romney's rally later today. that voexpected economic issues will be at the forefront of this rally. he will be campaigning across the commonwealth. the attack on the embassy was part of a war of words between the candidates yesterday. romney accused the administration of sympathizing with those who waged the attack, calling. the president's leadership calling president obama said that romney would shoot first and came later. romney will be in virginia later today as well as first lady michelle obama. she has two events in the

commonwealth today. the first will happen in richmond and another campaign stop in fredericksburg later this afternoon. once again, the swing states including virginia making both campaigns. >> thanks so much. nasa is holding a memorial service at the national cathedral for astronauts neil armstrong. the first man to walk on the moon died last month from complications from heart surgery. he was 82. nasa leaders and other dignitaries attending today's memorial service. his family says that he will be buried at sea. you can watch the memorial service live on our sister station news channel 8 starting at 10:00 this morning. >> the house armed services committee gets an update on the oxygen problem in the f-22 fighter jet. several pilot became disoriented from not getting enough oxygen over the past year. the military said inflatable of tests caused the problem. the air force has pledged to

>> classes resume this morning at morgan state university while investigators continued to search for the gunman who opened fire on campus. to put the campus on lockdown after someone shot a man at the student center. he's listed in serious condition. the victim was not a morgan state student and it appears the gunman and the victim knew each other. >> the teenager accused of shooting a fellow student and his baltimore high school has a bail hearing today. 18-year-old robert gladden faces attempted murder and other charges in the august 27 shooting at perry hall high school. he shot 17-year-old daniel borowy in the school cafeteria. he left the hospital on monday. >> two women facing child endangerment charges after police made a disturbing discovery at their home daycare center in dale city. the women were arrested on tuesday.

an update on breaking news we have been falling. this is from yemen. we knew that the u.s. compound in yemen, the consulate compound, that it had been stormed this morning. we also learned that shots were fired into the air trying to disperse the crowd. getting an update to there were no casualties as a result of the violence. but we are continuing to follow this from yemen. no casualties. that the latest from that u.s. embassy. >> all street is watching for crucial announcement from the federal reserve. >> paula faris has details. >> good morning. the guessing game about the next move of the fed is over today. ben bernanke speaks this afternoon. more than three-quarters of experts expect a new round of quantitative easing. the gap between the richest and poorest americans is the largest in almost 40 years.

meteorologist jacqui jeras. a beautiful start. we have a few clouds over chesapeake beach. when you see it a little bit of clouds, it is an indicator that are moisture has increased a little. we were so dry to start the week. we are starting to increase that a little. adding a few clouds makes for beautiful picture. 55 degrees right now at chesapeake beach. 63 at reagan, 51 at dulles. we are jumping up 74 degrees by noon, sunny and nice. 82 at 5:00 that's the forecast high temperature for this afternoon. now to traffic with angela. >> on the key routes in virginia just bought some delays, no incidents. the traffic problem is on maryland in the silver spring area on the beltway, the accident on the outer loop just past colesville road. the damage has already been done. major backups on the beltway.
